As a child I liked to find words that I had never heard before in the dictionary. Like “somnabulist”. This word has been appearing in my spirit during the last month, every now and again. Sleepwalking. The Bible has a word for every single occasion in human life, when it comes to our relationship with God, with ourself and with one another. Of course the Bible also has a word for practically any other situation in life. But “sleepwalking”?

So what does the Bible say about “sleepwalking?” A quick Google search provides the answer:

“6 So let’s not sleepwalk through life like those others. Let’s keep our eyes open and be smart.” – Thessalonians 5:6 (MSG)

Am I sleepwalking?

I’ve come to the realisation that billions of people who live on Earth with me at this time are, in fact, sleepwalking! Not in the sense that the dictionary explains. But in a spiritual sense: moving around but with spiritual eyes closed…

Are you sleepwalking?

If you’re reading this article, you’re probably awake, and looking for spiritual TRUTH.

There are some who want us to believe that there is NO ABSOLUTE TRUTH – each person sees the world from a different perspective. And this extends to spiritual truth – each one of us can believe whatever we prefer to believe.

Sleepwalking.

Let me ask some WAKE-UP questions:

What if this idea of NO ABSOLUTE TRUTH is wrong?

What if there is, in fact, only ONE GOD?

And what if, this ONE GOD is actually alive, exactly in the way that the Bible explains?

What if, at the end of this life there IS an inevitable reckoning, where each one of us has to be accountable for every second of our life?

What if GOD is actually the Creator of Heaven, Earth, the Universe and everything in it – including you?

I have friends who call themselves Christian, but have accepted the “Theory of Evolution” as ABSOLUTE TRUTH and thereby deny that God created the world in six days. I find this very interesting, purely from an academic perspective. Why? Because if we ascribe to “Christianity”, doesn’t that mean that we use the Bible as our daily guide to life, both practically and spiritually? And so, when the Bible teaches us that God is ALMIGHTY, does this mean that his arm is too short, meaning that he may be almighty in other things, but not powerful enough to create the world in six days…?

But Faith in God is NOT about logic. It’s a gift from God. And we have FREE WILL – the free will to accept this gift of faith or to reject it!

WHAT IF you CAN talk with God, right now and expect an answer?

Let me ask you: if God gave you an answer, would you be willing and able to hear it?

Or are you sleepwalking?

I catch myself ‘sleepwalking’ far too often… getting lost in daily tasks, nightly screens, own thoughts meandering through the maze of my brain…

And when I do, I have learnt to listen to “the Shepherd’s voice” calling me back softly to remind me to do everything in relationship to God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God LOVES doing life with us! It’s the reason he made us… and the world! We’re supposed to live WIDE AWAKE in relationship with him, to get to know him, as he ENJOYS seeing us live the life he planned for us to live.

Sadly, most of us are completely unaware of this incredible, truly supernatural life that we’re supposed to live! And so we trample through life on paths never intended by God for us. Let me explain: Any key life decision you made without God? What were the ultimate consequences?

But it’s not too late to WAKE UP spiritually! Just say, “Hello God, here is… (your name)!” Like a child. And ask him to send the Holy Spirit to continue his work in you, in the name of Jesus Christ, his Son, who embodied LIFE in relationship to God, all day, every day. And then, because he knew how DIFFICULT it is for us to keep on doing this, Jesus gave his life, so that our relationship to God could be restored through the only way possible: a blood sacrifice! Yes, our relationship to God was broken by the very first human beings who ever lived, because – despite having a direct, face-to-face relationship to God – they used their FREE WILL to act against his instruction, like a will-ful child ignores a parent and touches a hot plate! Then bearing the hurtful consequences…

Biblical laws are spiritual laws and biblical intelligence is spiritual intelligence (SI). These laws are not there to take our fun away… they are there to help us make wise decisions… WIDE-AWAKE decisions, with positive consequences for us, our families, our neighbourhoods and our environment. Decisions that put LIFE above death, LIGHT to drive out darkness and CLARITY about what’s right and what’s left… just kidding! Decisions about what’s right and what’s wrong.

Before you make your next decision, whatever it is, ASK GOD – in the Name of his Son Jesus Christ – and then LISTEN for his answer… If you don’t hear it, open the Bible – God’s Word. You can do it on your phone or laptop, right now! God has made sure that the internet exists, so that we can have HIS WORD at our fingertips all the time. Isn’t that AMAZING? Whatever the topic, just google it while continuing to pray (talk to God), asking Google to find a “Bible verse about…” and see what bible verses AI collates.
